‘Gold Label’ Dried Anchovies From Tawau, Sabah (Borneo)
‘Gold Label’ Dried Anchovies originates from Tawau, Sabah (Borneo). The premium quality anchovies anchovies are harvested from the sea, cleaned, dried thoroughly and peeled. Then these dried anchovies are packaged and sealed to maintain its freshness for a longer shelf life.
How to store Dried Anchovies?
Dried anchovies need to be stored in a cool and dry area. If you are going to use the whole packet of anchovies in a few days, you can keep them in a plastic bag at room temperature in a dry cool cupboard, otherwise pack the dried anchovies in a sealed plastic bag/ container and place them in the refrigerator (last for months). The best way is to keep in the freezer. Dried Anchovies stored at low temperature can last for months as it prevents mold and bacterial growth.
Let’s Make Crunchy Anchovies Chilli Sambal (Sauce) with ‘Gold Label’ Dried Anchovies
Ingredients:
- 100 G Of Dried Chilli (Soak In Hot Water And Leave It Aside To Grind. If You Do Not Want Too Much Spiciness Remove The Seeds)
- 4 Medium Onions (Peeled And Roughly Chopped To Be Grind Later)
- 3 Cloves Garlic (Peeled And To Grind)
- 5 Pcs Anchovies ‘Gold Label’ Dried Anchovies (Grind)
- 2 Cm Shrimp Paste (Grind)
- 1 Tablespoon Tamarind Paste
- 1/2 Teaspoon Pink Salt Or Normal Salt
- A Pinch Of Seasoning
- 1 Teaspoon Sugar
- 3 Tablespoons Oil
- 100 G Anchovies ‘Gold Label’ Dried Anchovies (Washed And Pat Dry)
Method:
Step 1
Grind all the following ingredients in a blender until a fine paste is formed.
- 100 g of Dried Chilli
- 4 Onions
- 3 cloves Garlic
- 5 pcs Anchovies ‘Gold Label’ Dried Anchovies
Step 2
- Pour oil in a wok or pan. Saute the ground ingredients (fine paste) for a minute or 2.
- Add tamarind, salt, seasoning, sugar and mix well.
- Cook until dry or bursting with oil. Set aside.
Step 3
- Take 100 g of Anchovies which have been washed and pat dry.
- Then fry over high heat until crispy and crunchy.
- Then mix the fried anchovies with the sautéed sambal sauce well.
- Amazing Crunchy Anchovies Chilli Sambal is now ready to be eaten.
